The second game of the the season was upon us and the forecast good. Up to the hall for some squad photo's with most of us managing to get there ok but leaving was a different matter, i just followed who ever was in front of me only to have our path blocked by Minty coming the other way ! The Newby Maze !! An eventful photo shoot with the star attraction being one of the estates very well kept pets !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbPDKHXWlLQ After the amusment of Mick running off to catch his work pal we set off on our seperate ways to do battle with the rest of the league.... Tonight we dine IN HULL !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kqC6G6Pcro Jimmy has grown a wee bit and so has his hair !! So a short trip to Ripon for us with a change in personel from the majority of last season but all Newby Regulars except Mike who has been at Newby for a while but this was to be his first senior debut. Ripon in to bat and it was looking good with me and Robbo keeping the runs down nicely but it wasn't to last long as Grizz got into a rhythm and began dispatching small parcels to various sides of the ground. Dropped on 50 odd, 111 and 112 he went on to make a lump of 144 out of a total 209. a hefty slice of any cake i do believe. Awesome tea including the first ever apperance i have ever seen of Hot chips and onion rings at a NIdderdale Cricket match. Not sure it's the best idea if your fieldind second !! Normal service was resumed wtih Ady and Robbo struting out to start our cahse and started nicely indeed with a steady gatering of 3's and 4's !!! But not quite to the boundry 4's so some running was required !! 1 and 2 stuck around a bit but wickets beagn to fall. Paul put up some good resistance befiore being triggered halfway down the track LBW and only Tommy and Damo managed to make any score of notable perforance. An unfamiliar situation found me and prids at the crease batting out for the point. An easy task and after 3.5 overs it was a comfortable point in the bag but alas, since the dawn of man we could not resist temtation. Like Adam in the garden of eden i saw something red, round and shiney and i wanted a piece of it, temptaion was to great , i lashed out and drilled it straight down deep mid off's throat. (it wasn't an apple). Nil poi for today but previos seasons have show losing the first one can be a good sign for the rest of the season. Lesson learned for this week !!! Take note middle order !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jSODuSo6x8 Till whenever. Stox
