Overseas 2008
Newby Hall CC have secured the services of a young opening batsman from Melbourne for the 2008 season. Rob Stokes, 19, of Cluden Cricket Club will arrive at Newby well in time for the start of the season. He is an opening batsman who also bowls leggies and is currently averaging nearly 40 for his club this season. Rob is also a qualified coach and will assist with the Academy. I'm sure everyone will make Rob feel very welcome, details of welcoming drinks to follow.

In this recent "payment of players" climate I feel it is probably necessary to point out to any interested party that in true Newby Hall fashion it would be expected that there would be the customary "it's your round next" approach any welcome drinks purchased for our new Aussie, as mentioned in Matt's last message. By the way this is meant as a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
