New Evening Captain...
Chris Stockil has volunteered to be the new Evening League Captian - I'm sure you'll join me in wishing him well! Let him know if you're wanting a game - esp. if you can drive!!

Yes it's true !!! I will be leading the Mighty Newby in the Harrogate evening league 2nd division. Last year saw us gain promotion to Div 2 with the help of many juniors at the club and some key senior players, Div 2 isn't Micky mouse cricket as there are 8 divisions so a club with are stature and quality of players should be competing for honours near the top ! Also div 2 has the added bonus of providing us with qualified league umpires so there is no stood out in the cold for the number 11 or the opener who gets a quick duck ! Evening league cricket is fun and exciting and is not to dis-similar to the national 20-20 league witch is always edge of your seat stuff. Evening league also gives players a chance who may not be getting much of a go on a saturday to show what they can do on a wednesday night. I will try and give as many people the opportunity to "have a go " on a wednesday and hopefull get alot of the juniors involved but will send an early plea out to club senior members that we will need you ! Not only do i need your help in transporting people to and from matches (only one trek this year which is Bardsey) but also it is division 2 and the standard will be good so without showing any discredit to our many talented youngsters i would like to take the field with a good proportion of seniors to show what our club has got on offer !! Anyone interested in playing on a wednesnight get in touch asap or see me on fri night and lets get this team sstarted and organised. With it being midweek the last thing i need is trying to scrape a team together on a wednesday lunchtime ! I will endeaver as will the sat captains to get ateam posted on the forum asap before matches so that if people can't play substitutes can be contacted quickly.
