Potential last mintue call ups needed, couple of lads struggling so some people may move up, waiting to hear so keep an eye out.
Ted- 05-09-2008
Sorry Matt. I'm still unavailable!!!
muffindall- 05-09-2008
Oh well that has saved me a call!!
Ted- 05-09-2008
Really? Was I last or second last?
muffindall- 05-09-2008
Yeah, second to last due to time spent at the club, that new lad Stevie Wonder only signed on last week, it would have been unfair on you!!
Ted- 05-09-2008
Yes indeed. I heard that due to that "hit me" bell that you add in with all your deliverys makes them much more hitable for a blind man.!
Good luck tomorrow mate.

Disappointing result losing by 19runs in a game that really showed some great cricket at times.
In a nut shell, bowling ok, batting, okish and fielding poor. Extras and misfields costing us in the region of 30odd runs which was certainly the difference, Hamps in reply not misfielding a single ball and taking a couple of good catches.
The game started well with Lenny bowling good lines with good pace and picking up four wickets, that 13 now already. However the misfields would cost us as Hamps posted 179-7.
This is still a total we should knock off on a good Newby deck with some pace and bounce in it. We started quite slowly but Olie and Adder put on the best part of 90 but when they fell in quick time Hamps smelt victory. Having to go for it from the off Singles looked good until he was run out from the boundry with a direct hit, symptomatic of our luck on the day and other fell around but an injured Porky and Paul Ainlsey batted out for the point.
Training Friday and fielding work to be done!!

I just wanted to echo Matts comments about Saturdays game....it was a refreshing change to play in a competitive game of cricket where both teams looked to bowl (instead of dibbly dobbling), where the pitch encouraged both bat and ball, and there was a competitiveness when both teams were fielding. The weather was spot on and the teas were excellent.
Must admit, a little weird having lenny on the opposition team but there you go.....
Good luck to Newby for the rest of the season and long may they continue to play comptitive cricket at the top of the nidderdale league - ps thought the baby's bottle was very funny!! Bob, the umpire, really did not have a clue what was going on when I handed it to him, am looking forward to the game at Hampsthwiate so Newby can make it 3-0 on the banter stakes against me!!
Ted- 05-12-2008
Champagne moment of the day was the comment from Adder from the boundary right before he misfielded for 4 off you Ol. Timing is everything in comedy.

I guess the only lowlight (other than losing) was the total disrespect the Hampsthwaite players had for the car park, doing handbrake turns. Grow up boys and show some respect.
Mandog- 05-12-2008
I was the main culprit for doing this and I hold my hands up.....I am very sorry for behaving in this way....
Taking over the captaincy, I want Hampsthwaite to be known as a club that play good cricket and behave soundly both on and off the pitch. This obviously has left a sour taste in the mouth of Newby Hall and I apologise for this. I hope that the day can be remembered for a fantastic game of cricket played by two good teams.....

I love lamp...

I was going to say something profound about thinking Mantle had actually grown up a bit after our conversation at Newby on Saturday, but then he goes and lets himself down again. Why would you do that? Why am I not surprised though?
Anyway, my worries have turned towards little jimmy. Either I'm not getting his humour or he's lost the plot.
