A good win for the first team on a freezing cold afternoon.
Newby won the toss and decided to bowl, suprise suprise! and wasnt long at all until new signing Lenny bowled Cockle as he played on. The pitch played very well and all credit to Golsborough for their efforts, Paul Ainsley picked up 4 wickets on debut and could have had about 6-7 or we had taken our catches. Grant cleaned bowled the hosts Aussie second ball and also removed the final batsman on a day where he bowled with good pace and control. Goldsborough were rolled for 134.
In reply Lenny and Paul Virr looked very relaxed as they opened the innings but both fell in the mid 20's. All the batsman contributed and got a nice start but fell as they were caught out, somethng we can work on at nets!! In the end Ryno finished things off with a towering six to secure the first 6pts of the season.
Positives, ground fielding was excellent on a very cold day, the bowlers didnt give any 'freebies' out and kept things tight. The batsman played some great shots and looked good.
Things to work on, 6 dropped catches and being vey critical the batsman, apart from Minty were all caught so perhaps some extra time in the nets?!
Next week, Kirkby at home the team will be up in the next 24hours or so but all players to meet at 12-30 at the Hall for whole club photo in full whites please. Training Friday and gound work Thursday from 6pm, please make every effort to help out.

A good solid start to the season, and on a personal note i seem to be moving towards the mid age range of the team! (well done Virry and PA)
Must apologisee to the lovely photographer who arrived from Ackrills, can't believe nobody though to let them know that Olie isn't playing for us this year. Also the person who tried to convince her that Uffindall was still in charge but had put on weight, well I hope your guilt eats away at you!!!!!
Must say at one point though I did feel the spirit of Olie, when Goldsboroughs tail was exposed and the captain decided to bring himself back on!
Away from the performance the comedy banter has started in good form. Although I wonder where this season is going when after the first match we have already discussed wizard spunk and seen some very interesting pics and vids on various phones!!!!
All in all a pleasant start to the summer. GOOD TIMES
